President John Draduring Mahama on Thursday expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the chiefs and people of Bono East for his 2024 electoral victory, reaffirming his commitment to ‘reset’ the nation.
The President said he was very grateful to the chiefs and people of the region for giving him another opportunity to steer the affairs of the nation for the next four years.
Describing his re-election as in the supreme interest of the nation, President Mahama said the electorate voted for unity and development, saying he was happy the chiefs and people of Bono east had faith in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government in developing the region and the nation by extension.

The President said this when he addressed a durbar of chiefs and people of the region at Kintampo, when he extended his “Thank You Tour” to the region, thanking the people for bringing him back to turn round the economic fortunes of the nation.
President Mahama said his government had extensively engaged a number of illustrious sons and daughters of the Bono East in his reset Ghana agenda and specifically mentioned Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, the Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry and Mr Emmanuel Agyekum, a Minister of State at the Presidency.
Mrs Ofosu-Adjare is the Member of Parliament (MP) for Techiman North and Mr Agyekum, the MP for Nkoranza South Constituencies of the region.
President Mahama underscores the need for “Ghana to rise again”, saying his government was still putting up efforts to ensure that required structures were put in place to build a prosperous nation.
He said there are plans to improve the nation’s road infrastructure, saying very soon a ring road would be constructed in Techiman for heavy duty trucks which often congest the Central Business District of the town.
President Mahama said an improved road infrastructure was required to improve market access, and easily connect farmers to traders, adding that, the education sector would also see remarkable improvement in infrastructure.
He said his government remained committed to completing all the abandoned E-block projects initiated by his previous administration to absorb more students, saying it was very important for all children to go to school.
President Mahama said his government was also committed to implement the free admission fees for all first-year Tertiary students as well as the free Tertiary education for Persons living with Disabilities.
He pledged to facilitate the establishment of Technical University and University for Allied Sciences in the Bono East Region, saying his government would soon pay the arrears of nursing allowances from January 2025.
President Mahama said the allowances would be paid through the Controller and Accountant General’s Department to stem abnormalities in the payments.
He said Bono East was one of the breadbaskets of the nation and his government would also build processing factories for cashews produced in the region and that centers would also be built to boost the production of other agricultural produce.
Earlier, Nana Owusu Sekyi, the President of the Bono East Regional House of Chiefs called for improved security in the region and expressed concern about the high incidents of armed robberies in the region.
He said condition of road networks in the region was not the best and appealed to the President to put the roads in good shape.
