Police Intercept Huge Consignment of Suspected Indian Hemp on Volta Lake; Three Arrested

The Eastern North Regional Police Command has intercepted a significant consignment of suspected Indian hemp being ferried across the Volta Lake, leading to the arrest of three suspects.

The suspects — Abraham Agonu, Michael Akuaku, and Confidence Amenuveve — were apprehended near Kwahu Adawso while transporting the suspected narcotic substances across the lake.

According to police sources, the operation led to the seizure of eighty-five (85) maxi sacks containing a total of 5,950 compressed and some non-compressed leaves suspected to be Indian hemp. Officers also retrieved a pump-action shotgun, two (2) outboard motors, and one (1) large engine boat used in the transport.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the operation is part of a broader smuggling network allegedly led by an individual identified only as Felix, who is believed to have taken a different boat to the Akate area. A manhunt is currently underway to apprehend him and other accomplices involved.

The police have assured the public of their commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks and maintaining security on the Volta Lake and its environs.
