The Eastern South Regional Police Command has arrested two individuals for their alleged involvement in a plot to assassinate a traditional ruler in the Eastern Region.
The suspects, identified as Emelia Akua Asor and Butuakwa Seth, were apprehended in an intelligence-led operation conducted by the police following credible information about the planned attack.
According to a police statement signed by DSP David Fianko-Okyere, Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the Command, the arrests were made after the police uncovered a plan to eliminate the Chief ahead of his first Royal Durbar, scheduled for October 17, 2025, at Akyem Kwabeng.

Investigations revealed that on October 11, 2025, police intelligence teams successfully infiltrated the suspects’ network. During the operation, Emelia Akua Asor allegedly offered GH¢50,000 to undercover officers to carry out the assassination of the Chief and another woman, who was reportedly being considered for installation as Queen Mother.
Further reports indicate that Butuakwa Seth assisted in the plan by identifying the residences of the intended victims and providing a photograph of the Chief to the operatives. The suspects are also said to have promised an additional GH¢50,000 upon completion of the crime.
Both suspects are currently in police custody assisting with ongoing investigations and are expected to be arraigned before court in due course.
The Eastern South Regional Police Command has reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the lives and security of all residents, particularly traditional authorities within the region.
“The Command wishes to assure the public that it remains steadfast in its efforts to protect every individual and uphold peace and security, especially among our revered traditional leaders,” the statement added.
