Police Arrest Three in GHC149,500 Robbery at Nyanikrom, Western Region

The Western Regional Police Command has arrested three individuals in connection with a brazen daylight robbery that took place at Nyanikrom near Shama Junction on Wednesday, July 9, 2025.

The suspects, identified as Francis Mensah alias Francis Kwaw (34), Ebenezer Cofie (32), and Samuel Bentum (35), were apprehended following a targeted surveillance operation conducted by the Police based on credible intelligence.

According to a statement issued by Superintendent Olivia E.T. Adiku, Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the Western Region, the Police had received reliable information that the suspects were plotting to rob company officials who were transporting salary funds from Takoradi to Nyanikrom.

At approximately 12:00 p.m. on the day of the incident, staff of the company had withdrawn money from a bank in Takoradi. While returning to the company premises, their vehicle was ambushed near Unique School Junction at Nyanikrom. The suspects, riding on a motorbike and in an unregistered sedan, smashed the vehicle’s window and made away with a significant amount of money.

Swift Police intervention led to the arrest of the three suspects and the recovery of an amount of GHC 149,500.00, believed to be the stolen cash.

Preliminary investigations have also revealed that a company driver, Maxwell Kofi Yeboah, may have conspired with the suspects. He is currently being pursued by the Police.

The Western Regional Police Command has assured the public that efforts are ongoing to arrest all accomplices and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Residents are encouraged to volunteer any information that could support the investigation.
