The Eastern South Regional Police Command has arrested a suspect, Abdul Rauf Salami, for unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition during a targeted police operation in Nsawam-Adoagyiri.
The suspect, a native of Adoagyiri Zongo, was apprehended on the night of Friday, May 23, 2025, at approximately 9:30 p.m. The arrest was made as part of intensified police operations aimed at restoring peace and maintaining security in the area following recent violent disturbances.
Police say Salami was intercepted during a coordinated sweep of key entry and exit points in Adoagyiri. A search led to the recovery of two pump-action guns loaded with 64 rounds of AA ammunition, a cutlass, a knife, and an ammunition vest.

The suspect is currently in police custody assisting with ongoing investigations and is expected to be arraigned before court shortly.
In a statement, the police assured residents of their continued commitment to ensuring safety in the area. “We will leave no stone unturned in ensuring the safety and security of the Adoagyiri Township,” the statement read.
