Police arrest 13 Burkinabes at illegal mining site in Banda  

The Police Service has arrested 13 foreign nationals at an illegal mining site in the Banda District of the Bono Region.
According to the police, the suspects, all Burkinabes, were arrested at the mining site at Banda-Weima in the district, between 0740 hours and 1100 hours on Thursday May 22, 2025.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Victor Samadji, the Banda District Police Crime Officer, confirmed the arrest and told the Ghana News Agency that the suspects had since been handed over to the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS).
When contacted, the Assistant Superintendent of Immigration (ASI) Daniel Tabi, Staff Officer and Head of Intelligence, Banda District Command, GIS, said the suspects had been sent back to the Savannah region.
“We warned them not to be seen in the area again,” he stated.
