The Ekuona Royal Family of Nsuta has officially announced that the one-week celebration of the late Ghanaian music icon, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, affectionately known as Daddy Lumba, will take place in Accra on Saturday, August 30, 2025.
This announcement follows the formal communication of his passing to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.
According to the Abusuapanyin (family head) of the royal family, the final funeral rites will be held in Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Region, in honor of Daddy Lumba’s royal lineage. While the exact venue for the funeral is yet to be disclosed, the family noted that the decision to hold the final rites in Kumasi reflects the legendary musician’s ancestral roots.

“It is only right that his final resting and farewell be rooted in his hometown and royal ancestry,” the family head emphasized.
The family also revealed that arrangements are being made to formally notify the Ga Mantse and the Ga Traditional Council, in recognition of Daddy Lumba’s long residence in Accra and the strong fan base he built in the city over the years.
Recognizing Daddy Lumba’s global impact and musical legacy, the Ekuona Royal Family called on fans and sympathisers to observe the mourning activities with respect and dignity.
“We humbly ask that all who attend the celebrations and funeral behave in a dignified manner to honour his memory and ensure a peaceful and successful commemoration befitting of the legend he was,” the statement read.
The family also extended heartfelt appreciation to Ghanaians both home and abroad for the overwhelming support, love, and tributes received since news of his passing broke.
Further details regarding the funeral arrangements will be shared in the coming days.
