Okwawu United Supporters Issue Urgent Call to Save Club Ahead of 2025/26 Season

Supporters of Okwawu United, one of Ghana’s historic football clubs, have issued an urgent press release drawing attention to a series of challenges threatening the survival of the club ahead of the 2025/26 season. The appeal, directed at Okwahuman, stakeholders, and the broader football community, outlines serious concerns affecting the club’s operations, performance, and future.

According to the supporters, four major issues have crippled the club’s progress:

  1. Chieftaincy Impasse: A long-standing chieftaincy dispute within the Kwahu Traditional Area has affected the unity and administrative cohesion necessary for the club’s smooth running.
  2. Lack of Leadership: Okwawu United currently lacks a frontline figure to lead and coordinate the club’s affairs in line with standard football governance structures.
  3. No Access to a Proper Pitch: The team struggles to find a suitable pitch for training and home matches, severely hampering their preparation and match readiness.
  4. Financial Constraints: Funding shortages remain a serious setback, affecting player recruitment, youth development initiatives, and the club’s competitiveness.

The supporters’ leadership, through this statement, is rallying key figures and institutions from Kwahu and beyond to rise in defense of the club’s legacy. Among those called upon for immediate support are:

  • Nananom (Traditional Authorities of Kwahu)
  • Hon. Julius Debrah, current Chief of Staff of the Republic of Ghana
  • Hon. Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Member of Parliament and NPP Flagbearer hopeful
  • Nana Antwi Darkwah, Club 100 Coordinator
  • All five Members of Parliament from Kwahu Land
  • Municipal and District Chief Executives across Kwahu
  • Businessmen and corporate entities from the Kwahu area

“We are humbly calling on not only the above-mentioned personalities but all well-meaning Kwahu citizens to respond promptly to this SOS message,” the statement reads. “Let us rise in a united front in saving our pride.”

The supporters insist that Okwawu United is more than a football club—it is a symbol of Kwahu’s unity, heritage, and excellence. Without swift intervention, they warn, the club risks collapsing under the weight of these challenges.

The press release concluded with a passionate rallying cry:

“Long Live Kwahuman! Long Live Okwawu United!”

As the 2025/26 season draws near, the fate of the club now hangs in the balance, with hope resting on the shoulders of its people and leaders.
