The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially opened nominations for members interested in contesting as the party’s Presidential Candidate for the 2028 general elections.
In a notice signed by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party announced that nomination applications will be accepted beginning Tuesday, July 29, 2025, and will close on Thursday, August 28, 2025.
According to the statement, the call for nominations is in accordance with Article 13(1)(2) of the NPP Constitution. Interested party members may obtain nomination forms from the Office of the General Secretary at the Party Headquarters, located in Asylum Down, Accra, during the nomination period.

To obtain the forms, applicants must pay a non-refundable nomination fee of GHS 100,000 via bankers draft made payable to the NPP Headquarters. In addition, a filing fee of GHS 500,000 is required, also payable in bankers draft.
The statement further noted that all aspiring presidential candidates will also be required to pay a development fee, the amount of which will be determined by the National Council.
The party’s Presidential Primary (National Congress) is scheduled for Saturday, January 31, 2026, during which delegates will elect the NPP’s Presidential Candidate for the 2028 general elections.
This announcement marks the beginning of what is expected to be a competitive and closely watched internal race as the party positions itself for another potential bid for national leadership.
