Newly enstooled queen mother of Nsein calls for unity among traditional rulers

 Nana Akaa Kye II, the newly enstooled Adehyemaa of Lower Town Axim and Nsein Traditional Area, has appealed to traditional rulers in the Nzema area to bury their differences and forge ahead in unity for the rapid socio-economic development of the area.

She noted that the seeming differences and lack of unity continued to stagnate the development of the Nzema area.

Nana Adehyemaa Akaa Kye II, who is also a philanthropist and founder of Motherhood of Africa, an NGO, was giving her acceptance speech at an impressive ceremony to climax her enstoolment as the new Adehyemaa of the Lower Town Axim and Nsein Traditional Area by the Nsein Traditional Council at Nsein in the Nzema-East Municipality of the Western Region.

The honour was in recognition of her role and contributions to the area and parts of the world.

Nana Akaa Kye II assured the Traditional Council and the Municipal Assembly of her readiness to team up with them in the quest for sustainable development.

The Queenmother hinted of supporting a mobile health outreach programme for elderly people and the vulnerable to break the “barrier of distance poverty”.

She also assured the people that the Axim government hospital would receive support and attention.

Nana Akaa Kye II said a free health screening which had characterized the annual Kundum festival, would be sustained.

Touching on economic empowerment, she mentioned “initiatives that offered skills training, entrepreneurship, development, micro credit support for small scale businesses and hardworking women who lift entire household out of poverty “.

Nana Akaa Kye II promised to create a platform that connected the youth to vocational opportunities, mentorship and set up funding and underscored economic dignity as the foundation of peace and stability.

On community development, the Queenmother said she hoped to be a “better advocate for a better infrastructure, especially in the area of roads and schools”.

Nana Akaa Kye II also realized the need to hook Nsein to the international limelight to draw attention to the values, traditions and the better things in Nzema.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Evaloe Ajomoro-Gwira, Mr Kofi Arko Nokoe, said the NDC believed in inclusiveness, hence the representation of every paramountcy at the District Assembly.

He commended President John Dramani Mahama for appointing Nzemas to serve in his government.

He promised to team up with the Municipal Assembly to partner the traditional council to spearhead development in the area and lauded the government for allocating GHc19 million to the Assemblies for development.

Mr Arko Nokoe assured the youth of his assistance to secure employment and promised to assist this year’s Kundum festival.

The Paramount Chief of Lower Town Axim and Nsein Traditional Area Awulae Agyevi Kwame welcomed the new Queenmother to the Council and pledged his support and assistance to push the development agenda of the area forward.
