The National Communications Authority (NCA) has suspended the operations of nine radio stations across Ghana for various breaches of broadcasting regulations.
The action follows the expiration of a 30-day grace period granted by President John Dramani Mahama, which allowed defaulting stations to address violations of the laws and regulations governing FM radio broadcasting in the country.
According to the NCA, six stations “failed, refused and neglected” to comply with the regulatory amnesty, taking no action within the stipulated period. These stations include:

- Donplus Multimedia Limited – 105.9 MHz
- Dreams Ghana Media Limited – 104.9 MHz, New Abirem
- Jam Multimedia Limited – 101.3 MHz, Kintampo
- Jewel Group Limited – 102.7 MHz, Duayaw Nkwanta
- Kpandai Star Community Radio – 107.3 MHz, Kpandai
- Unique Gateway Communication Limited – 105.7 MHz, Nkawkaw
In addition, three other stations were found to have failed to fully remedy specific breaches during the amnesty period. These included the unauthorised use of Studio-to-Transmitter Link (STL) frequencies and operating from unapproved transmitter locations.
All three belong to Wontumi Multimedia Company Limited, operating without a Certificate of Compliance in violation of Regulation 54 of the Electronic Communications Regulations, 2011 (L.I. 1991):
- Wontumi Radio – 95.9 MHz, Accra
- Wontumi Radio – 101.3 MHz, Kumasi
- Wontumi Radio – 101.3 MHz, Takoradi
The NCA emphasised that it will continue to closely monitor Ghana’s broadcasting landscape to ensure strict compliance with all authorisation conditions, as well as the laws and regulations governing broadcasting services.
