MP Davis Ansah Opoku Hosts Mpraeso SHS Youth Leadership Parliament at Ghana’s Parliament House

Member of Parliament for Mpraeso, Davis Ansah Opoku, yesterday welcomed students from Mpraeso Senior High School’s Youth Leadership Parliament to the Parliament of Ghana, offering them a firsthand experience of Ghana’s legislative process and a motivating glimpse into public service.

The visit, which was marked by interactive engagements, focused on educating the students about the core responsibilities of Parliament — including law-making, government oversight, and constituency representation. Hon. Opoku also shared personal insights on his journey in politics and life as a Member of Parliament.

“What made this visit truly memorable,” Hon. Opoku stated, “was the participation of some of my colleague MPs, who graciously interacted with the students and offered valuable advice on leadership.”

A noteworthy aspect of the visit was the strong female representation among the group, with over 60 percent of the participants being young women. Hon. Opoku described this as an encouraging sign and emphasized the importance of nurturing female leadership.

“This is a strong reminder of why we must continue to support and prepare more girls for leadership roles in the future,” he noted.

The session was widely described as inspiring and impactful, leaving the students energized and better informed about national governance and their potential roles as future leaders.

The event is part of Hon. Opoku’s ongoing efforts to promote youth engagement in governance and leadership within his constituency and beyond.
