Former Manchester City midfielder Mohammed Aminu is confident he can rediscover his best form as he begins a new chapter with Ghana Premier League side Bechem United.
The 24-year-old, once regarded as one of Ghana’s most promising young talents, has returned home after several years honing his skills in Europe’s top academies. With renewed focus and determination, Aminu believes the coming season could be a turning point.
“This coming year is going to be my year for sure because I’ve been preparing for this,” he said.

Aminu’s addition to Bechem United is expected to inject much-needed creativity and energy into the team’s midfield. His technical ability and experience abroad are seen as key assets in the club’s push for success in the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.
Aminu’s rise began in 2017 with a high-profile £2 million move from WAFA to English giants Manchester City, where he was once considered a brighter prospect than current Ghana star Mohammed Kudus, whom he regularly benched at youth level. However, injuries, inconsistency, and off-field challenges stalled his progress, and he was eventually released by the Premier League side in 2022.
Reflecting on the doubts and setbacks he has faced, Aminu remains undeterred.
“It’s normal to doubt though because it’s football, you know. Some will like you, some won’t. I’m forever grateful—and I’m happy for those who doubt me. They’re making me stronger, making me do more and train harder, so big thanks to them.”
Now back on Ghanaian soil, Mohammed Aminu is determined to prove his worth and reignite the potential that once made him one of the most talked-about prospects in the country. Bechem United and their fans will be hoping his return signals the beginning of a powerful resurgence—both for the player and the team
