MINISTRY OF EDUCATION WELCOMES OVER 590,000 FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS TO SENIOR HIGH SCHOOLS FOR THE 2025/2026 ACADEMIC YEAR

The Ministry of Education has extended a warm welcome and heartfelt congratulations to approximately 590,000 first-year Senior High School (SHS) students who are reporting to their various schools across the country on Saturday, October 18, and Monday, October 20, 2025, to officially begin the 2025/2026 academic year.

In a statement issued and signed by Hashmin Mohammed, Press Secretary to the Minister of Education, the Ministry described the occasion as a significant milestone in the academic journey of the newly admitted students, marking the beginning of an important chapter in their pursuit of knowledge and personal growth.

The Ministry encouraged the new entrants to approach their secondary education with discipline, dedication, and enthusiasm, emphasizing that this phase represents an essential foundation for their future aspirations.

It also expressed appreciation to parents and guardians for their patience and cooperation throughout the school placement process, acknowledging their vital role in ensuring a smooth transition for their wards.

Furthermore, the Ministry announced that the placement into schools and residential status for the 2025/2026 academic year has officially closed, and urged parents and guardians to proceed to their respective schools to complete enrollment formalities. This, it said, would help ensure that students settle in comfortably for the commencement of academic work.

Reaffirming its unwavering commitment to delivering quality, equitable, and inclusive education for all Ghanaian children, the Ministry assured the public that it is working tirelessly with relevant stakeholders to guarantee a smooth and successful start to the new academic year across the country.

“We once again welcome our young learners to the Senior High School family and wish them the very best in their academic and personal development,” the statement concluded.
