Let’s use Eid to strengthen our values of sacrifice, obedience and compassion

Sheikh Ahmed Adjei Adjetey, the Greater Accra Regional Imam of the Ghana Muslim Mission, has urged Muslims to reflect on the values of sacrifice, obedience and compassion through the celebration of Eid-Ul-Asha.

He said it was important to remember the symbolic sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim, who was willing to sacrifice his son, Ismail, in obedience to Allah’s command, which was a profound act of devotion.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency after the Eidul Adha celebration at the Ghana Muslim Mission Headquarters in Accra, Sheikh Adjetey noted that sacrifice was a symbolic gesture that embodied the believer’s willingness to give up something valuable as a demonstration of their faith and submission to Allah.

“As we renew our commitment to Allah as true servants, let us accept the provisions that Allah has decided for us and continue to carry out His recommended acts, and refrain from all forbidden acts,” he said.

Sheikh Adjetey said Eid was a great day for Muslims and expressed appreciation to Allah for His blessings.

“We are grateful to Allah (SWT) for granting us the opportunity to be part of the Islamic community all over the world in observing Eidul Adha. And we ask Allah to grant us the blessings that come with the celebration.”
