Businessman and politician Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has urged Ghanaians, particularly political actors, to end what he describes as the needless politicization of critical national issues following the recent helicopter crash that claimed eight lives.
According to him, the tragic incident should serve as a wake-up call on the dangers of excessive partisanship, which he believes continues to undermine Ghana’s progress.
Mr. Agyapong criticized opposition parties, especially the National Democratic Congress (NDC), for what he termed as “propaganda and vitriolic attacks” that stifle important national projects.

He cited the controversy that surrounded the proposed acquisition of a new Presidential Jet under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s administration. He recalled that while Hon. James Agalga, Ranking Member of the Defence and Interior Committee, was part of the delegation for the acquisition, his colleague, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, vehemently opposed the move.
“Okudzeto Ablakwa must bow his head in shame and apologize for his unwarranted politicization of issues and disservice to our dear country,” Kennedy Agyapong said.
He argued that acquiring a fit-for-purpose Presidential Jet would, in the long term, prove more economically prudent than the repeated expenditure on chartered presidential travels. Beyond cost, he stressed, attention should rather be given to the potential benefits of presidential trips to the nation.
Mr. Agyapong called on all political leaders to rise above populism and propaganda and instead pursue initiatives that serve the country’s long-term interest.
