Ghanaian midfielder Justice Blay has issued an official public apology to Asante Kotoko Sporting Club, its management, players, and supporters following controversial comments he made during a live interview earlier today on Pure FM Sports.
In the emotionally charged interview, Blay made remarks that drew criticism and sparked outrage among fans and stakeholders of the club. However, in a swift and heartfelt response, the former Kotoko star has acknowledged his error, attributing the comments to personal emotions stemming from his departure from the club.
In an official statement released through the JBIAY Foundation, Blay expressed remorse, stating:

“Upon reflection, I recognise that my words may have caused disappointment or offense to the club, my former teammates, the passionate supporters, and specific individuals whose names were mentioned.”
He continued, “It was never my intention to bring the name of this great club into disrepute or to diminish the contributions of those I’ve had the honour of working alongside.”
Justice Blay, who has been a key figure in Ghanaian football and a standout during his time with Kotoko, emphasized the significant role the club has played in shaping his professional journey. He described his time at Kotoko as “instrumental” to his growth and expressed deep appreciation for the platform and support the club provided.
While taking full responsibility for his comments, Blay underscored the importance of emotional discipline and professionalism, especially in the public eye.
“This experience has served as a powerful reminder of the values of emotional discipline, humility, and maturity—on and off the pitch,” he said. “I am committed to learning from this and becoming not only a better player but a better person.”
The apology comes as a timely act of reconciliation, as tensions rose among the club’s fan base and social media users who felt betrayed by his earlier statements. With this public statement, many believe it paves the way for healing between the player and the club he once called home.
Justice Blay concluded his message by extending his “deepest apologies to the Asante Kotoko family” and wishing the club continued success in all its future endeavors.
