A total of 500 customised exercise books have been handed over to pupils of Wlitey RC Primary School in the Akatsi South Municipality of the Volta Region.
The gesture, from Mr James Gunu, the Volta Regional Minister and former District Chief Executive for Akatsi North, was presented by Mr Daniel Dagba, the MCE for Akatsi South on behalf of Mr Gunu.
Mr Dagba explained that Mr Gunu’s donation would motivate the pupils to thrive in academic excellence.

He entreated them to behave well both at home and during school hours.
Mrs Kuvi Agartha, Headmistress of the school, who received the items on behalf of the Education Directorate, expressed their appreciation to Mr Gunu for the kind donation.
She called for further support in mitigating some challenges facing the school in recent times such as the provision of marker boards in their classrooms, renovation of the school windows and doors to prevent unapproved entry, and extension of electricity to the various classrooms.
The rest include inadequate streetlights leading to poor visibility within the school premises at night and the need to fencing the entire school aimed at protecting the school’s property.
In his quick response, Mr Dagba assured the Management of the school that their outfit would include their requests in the Assembly’s work plan for discussion and action.
He indicated that his government would not relent on providing every needed support to boost academic excellence in the country and that “Akatsi South is no exception.”
The school, established in 1925, currently has a student population of 445 comprising 228 boys and 217 girls.
The presentation was also witnessed by Torgbui Aho IV of Akatsi Mornenu and Hunorvia Sakpaku, the ‘Zikpuitor’ of Torgbui Sakpaku IX, the Left-Wing Chief of Avenor.
