The family of the murdered Marketing and Public Affairs Manager of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), Madam Josephine Tandoh Asante, has expressed displeasure at the discontinuation of the case and discharge of the four accused persons by the court.
Five years ago on January 13, 2019, Madam Asante was murdered at dawn through stabbing at her residence at the Emefs Estate at Mataheko in the Ningo-Prampram District after returning from a senior staff get-together.

Following this, four suspects, including the victim’s houseboy and driver, were arrested and arraigned before the TDC Magistrate Court for a committal trial.
The accused persons were Christian Adjei, Frederick Owusu Oppong, Richard Kwabena Kwakye, Kwabena Boateng, and Dominic Owusu.
However, the TDC Magistrate Court discharged the accused persons following a submission from the prosecution, based on advice received from the Attorney-General’s (AG) Department.
The court noted that after years of reviewing the case docket and evidence, there was no evidence connecting the accused persons to the murder.
Mr Robert Tandoh, brother of the deceased, expressing their displeasure at the discharge of the accused persons at the court premises, said the decision had deepened the family’s pain and agony after years of mourning.
Mr Tandoh, however, vowed that the family would resort to the use of legal means to seek justice for their relative, noting that they had requested the court documents for their lawyers to study and advise on the appropriate steps to seek redress.
He indicated that the discharge and discontinuation of the case have confirmed the suspicion that in Ghana people could easily get away with any crime they want to commit.
According to him, they were of the strong conviction that they had gathered enough evidence to help their case, questioning the rationale behind the AG’s advice that there was insufficient evidence to link the accused to the case; therefore, it was based on suspicions.
The court presided over by Her Worship Benedicta Antwi (Esq.) acted on the advice of the AG Department, citing insufficient evidence to prosecute.
