Gov’t Slashes Nursing Trainee Admission Fees by 50%

The Ministry of Health has announced a major relief package for Nursing and Allied Health Training students across the country, cutting admission fees by half effective the 2025/2026 academic year.

The intervention, made possible under government’s flagship “No-Fee-Stress” Policy for tertiary students, is expected to ease the financial burden on thousands of parents and students seeking professional training in the health sector.

According to the Ministry, government will absorb about 50 percent of the approved fees for all first-year students enrolled in Nursing and Allied Health Training Institutions.

A statement signed by the Deputy Director and Spokesperson of the Ministry, Mr. Tony Goodman, cautioned all institutions to strictly adhere to the approved fee structure. Principals have been warned against charging above the authorized amounts or demanding payment for items already covered under the policy.

“This reduction fulfills the commitment of His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, to provide financial relief for parents and students who are determined to pursue their academic and professional dreams,” the statement read.

The Ministry emphasized that any Principal who flouts the directive does so at their own peril, stressing its commitment to safeguarding the welfare of students and ensuring equitable access to health training education.

Meanwhile, Heads of Health Training Institutions have been directed to immediately begin the necessary processes for admitting students for the upcoming academic year under the revised fee structure.

The Ministry assured stakeholders of its continued dedication to advancing affordable and quality health training in Ghana.
