The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has announced a major strategic enhancement to Ghana’s natural gas supply, led by international energy firm ENI.
Effective Sunday, July 13, 2025, ENI will increase its daily supply of natural gas by an additional 30 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd). This move will raise Ghana’s total natural gas supply to 270 MMscfd, marking a significant step toward strengthening the country’s energy infrastructure and ensuring a more stable and reliable energy future.
As part of the implementation, ENI will temporarily suspend its gas export operations. According to the Ministry, this short-term measure is essential to streamline operations and successfully integrate the increased supply into the national energy system.

However, the Ministry cautioned that this transition may temporarily affect the availability of gas for power generation. In anticipation of this, the Ministry has coordinated closely with stakeholders in the power sector to roll out comprehensive contingency plans, including enhanced monitoring of power output and strategic backup systems to minimize any disruptions to electricity supply.
“We are confident that these proactive steps will ensure a smooth transition and maintain stability in the national power grid,” said Richmond Rockson, Esq., Spokesperson and Head of Communication at the Ministry.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to a stable, secure, and sustainable energy future and called for the continued cooperation and understanding of the public and stakeholders throughout the transition process.
“This is a crucial step toward a more resilient energy sector,” the Ministry added, “and we thank all Ghanaians for their support as we work to power the nation forward.”
