Mr Abass Ibrahim, Environmental Health Officer for the Ayawaso East Municipal Assembly, has called on Ghanaians to support efforts to prevent air pollution and improve environmental air quality
He made the appeal during an engagement with students of the Nima Cluster of Schools, where he emphasised the importance of continuous public education on the dangers of air pollution, especially among children.
The outreach formed part of an initiative by Infinity 970, in partnership with Breathe Cities, aimed at educating students on practical ways to maintain clean air.

“It is important that we put the lessons learned into action. We have to stop burning refuse, no matter how small. We must all join the campaign and reduce or stop completely activities that contaminate the air we breathe,” Mr. Ibrahim stated.
He encouraged residents to liaise with their respective assemblies to acquire dustbins and manage waste more responsibly.
Mr Emmanuel Lamptey, Director of Infinity 970, said the campaign sought to raise awareness about the deadly impact of air pollution and promote environmentally responsible practices.
The interactive session followed a similar engagement organised by Breathe Cities for selected schools in the Ayawaso Central Municipality.
Presentations included practical case studies on air pollution to enhance students’ understanding of best practices for environmental protection.
The campaign encourages residents to report incidents of air pollution to local authorities or via the organisation’s dedicated hotline: 0579724072.
Infinity 970 aims to improve community wellbeing through communication, education, interaction, and advocacy.
In June, the organisation, in partnership with Breathe Cities, engaged commercial drivers at Odawna (Kwame Nkrumah Circle) in Accra, urging citizens to refrain from indiscriminate waste burning.
The campaign also encouraged residents to separate plastic waste from other household refuse to support recycling efforts and called for enforcement of by-laws prohibiting waste burning.
