Ghana to Reopen Embassy in Tehran on September 16

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has announced the reopening of Ghana’s Embassy in Tehran, Iran, following its temporary closure earlier this year due to heightened tensions between Iran and Israel.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Ministry explained that the Embassy, which was shut down on June 16, 2025, to guarantee the safety of mission staff, will resume full operations on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, after improvements in the security situation in Iran.

The Ministry assured the public that it will continue to closely monitor developments in the region to ensure the safety of both Embassy staff and the Ghanaian community living in Iran.

“The Ministry wishes to take this opportunity to assure the general public of its commitment to ensure the safety of Ghanaians in Iran and will provide periodic updates as and when the need arises,” the statement added.

The reopening marks a return to normal diplomatic engagement between Ghana and Iran after months of precautionary closure.
