Ghana Condemns Israeli Airstrike on Qatar, Expresses Solidarity

The Government of Ghana has strongly condemned what it described as an “unprovoked” Israeli attack on the sovereign State of Qatar, which has resulted in casualties, loss of lives, and destruction of property.

In a statement issued in Accra on Wednesday, the Government said the airstrikes were a violation of international law and an affront to the sovereignty of Qatar. It further warned that the attack undermines ongoing efforts toward peace between Israel and Palestine.

President John Dramani Mahama, on behalf of the people of Ghana, expressed solidarity with Qatar’s Emir, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and the Qatari people in what he called “these difficult times.”

The statement also commended Qatar for its continued role in seeking a peaceful resolution to the long-standing Israeli–Palestinian conflict. Ghana urged that the latest incident should not derail Qatar’s commitment to diplomatic negotiations aimed at ending the conflict.
