The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has escalated its security operations in Bawku, Nalerigu, and adjoining communities in response to renewed instability in the region. The intensified operations, which commenced on Tuesday, 29th July 2025, involve both ground and aerial manoeuvres aimed at restoring law and order.
In a statement issued by the Acting Director General of Public Relations, Captain VA Arhin of the Ghana Navy, the military urged all peace-loving residents in the affected areas to fully cooperate with security personnel. This includes strict compliance with the newly adjusted curfew hours, which now run from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., replacing the earlier 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. restriction.
“The Ghana Armed Forces remains fully committed to restoring peace and stability in Bawku, Nalerigu, and the surrounding towns,” the statement emphasized. Authorities further called on traditional leaders, civil society, and the general public to support the ongoing operations in order to achieve a lasting resolution to the region’s conflicts.

The GAF also issued a caution to bloggers, media practitioners, and content creators, advising them to desist from circulating old or unrelated military footage and misrepresenting it as part of the current operations. The military described such actions as disinformation and mal-information, warning that they contribute to public unrest and could hinder the peacebuilding process.
As the Ghana Armed Forces intensifies efforts to secure the region, residents are urged to remain calm, abide by all directives, and contribute to efforts that promote peace and national cohesion
