The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has refuted reports circulating on social media and some online platforms alleging the arrest of Brigadier General Michael Opoku by security operatives for possessing ammunition.
In a statement issued by the Acting Director General of Public Relations, Captain (GN) VA Rhin, the Armed Forces clarified that enquiries made with various Security Agencies and National Investigative Authorities revealed no evidence to support the claims.
“The Armed Forces can confirm that Brigadier General Michael Opoku remains an active member of the Ghana Armed Forces and is not under arrest for any crime committed,” the statement read.

The military assured the public that, while the publication was false, no member of the Armed Forces is above the law. Any officer or personnel found culpable of any offence would face the same legal procedures as any other citizen.
Describing the story as “false and misleading,” GAF urged the public to disregard it and refrain from engaging in the spread of misinformation and disinformation.
