Ghana Armed Forces Cautions Media Over Speculative Reports on Military Helicopter Crash

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has appealed to media practitioners, commentators, and content creators to exercise caution in their coverage of the recent Air Force Z-9 helicopter crash in the Ashanti Region, which claimed the lives of all eight people on board.

In a statement signed by Captain (GN) VA Arhin, Acting Director General of Public Relations, the GAF expressed concern over what it described as “speculative and unsubstantiated commentaries” surrounding the tragic incident. The Armed Forces urged that reportage should be respectful to the memories of the fallen heroes and sensitive to the grief of the bereaved families.

“Any purported conclusions based on opinions, perceptions and conjectures will be premature and misleading,” the statement cautioned, adding that the public should be wary of such reports.

The GAF assured the nation that a thorough investigation into the cause of the crash has commenced, with efforts to collaborate with international agencies to uncover the facts and bring closure to the tragedy.

Acknowledging the widespread public interest in the accident, the Armed Forces expressed gratitude to the Government, various institutions, and individuals for their support during this period of national mourning.

The Ministry of Defence, the Military High Command, and the entire Ghana Armed Forces extended their condolences to the bereaved families, wishing eternal peace for the souls of the departed patriots.
