The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that it is launching a full-scale investigation into alleged examination malpractices in the ongoing 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
This follows reports by sections of the media, particularly a JoyNews TV documentary, which suggested that some schools may have engaged in irregular practices during the examinations.
In a statement signed by the Head of Public Relations, Mr. Daniel Fenyi, the GES said it would immediately obtain a copy of the full documentary, including original transcripts, for scrutiny before commencing investigations.

“Management reiterates its absolute aversion to examination malpractice. Cheating undermines the integrity of our education system, destroys meritocracy, and produces graduates who lack the competencies required for national development,” the statement stressed.
The GES further assured the public that any official—teaching or non-teaching—found to have aided or abetted cheating will face severe disciplinary action in line with the law and established Service regulations.
The Service also noted that it enjoys the full backing of the Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, and the GES Council in ensuring accountability and discipline.
Management reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the integrity of examinations, adding that it would collaborate with the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), National Security, and other law enforcement agencies to curb malpractice.
