The Fosu Royal Family, custodians of the late music icon Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, has officially responded to claims made by Germany-based Akosua Serwah Fosuh over issues surrounding the late artiste’s marriage, funeral arrangements, and estate.
In a statement issued through their lawyers, Baba Jamal & Associates, the family addressed what they described as “misrepresentations” by Mrs. Serwah Fosuh and reaffirmed their authority over all matters concerning the burial and legacy of the legendary highlife musician.
Desertion and Divorce Allegations

According to the letter, sighted by this news outlet, the Fosu family claimed that Mrs. Serwah Fosuh “refused to relocate” to Ghana when her husband was seriously ill about fifteen years ago, choosing instead to remain in Germany. The letter described this as an act of desertion during a critical period in the musician’s life.
It further revealed that in February 2018, Mrs. Serwah Fosuh wrote to the late musician, expressing her intention to initiate divorce proceedings, citing several allegations which the late artiste “denied outright.”
The lawyers stated that after her decision, Mrs. Fosuh presented the traditional drinks required to dissolve a marriage under Akan customary law — a gesture that the late musician and his family accepted as a formal end to the union.
“By Akan custom, once the drinks are accepted, the marriage is dissolved,” the letter emphasized.
Funeral Decisions Belong to the Family
The Fosu Royal Family maintained that, by tradition, all funeral and burial arrangements for the late highlife star rest solely with the family. The lawyers explained that Mrs. Serwah Fosuh therefore “has no right to determine how the late Daddy Lumba should be buried.”
However, the family noted that her name could be mentioned in funeral brochures “as a favour,” out of respect for the children she had with the late musician.
Family Recognizes Odo Broni as Wife
The family also confirmed that Priscilla Ofori, popularly known as Odo Broni, is a recognized wife of the late musician.
According to the statement, Odo Broni lived with Daddy Lumba for over fifteen years and the two were blessed with six children.
“When your client deserted the late Daddy Lumba, Odo Broni was there for him,” the letter stated, adding that she remained by his side “through thick and thin until his final day on earth.”
Estate and Property Management
Touching on the late artiste’s assets, the Fosu family’s lawyers indicated that all of Daddy Lumba’s properties form part of his estate and will be distributed fairly among his children and their mothers under both customary and legal processes.
They also warned that no individual should attempt to claim or manage any of the properties until the estate has been properly administered.
The lawyers disclosed that as Daddy Lumba’s last legal representatives before his passing, they have in their possession “specific instructions” from the musician regarding how his funeral and estate should be handled.
Call for Peace and Unity
In conclusion, the Fosu Royal Family extended an olive branch to all parties involved, urging them to prioritize peace, unity, and respect for tradition.
“To avoid unnecessary litigation and shame to the memory of the deceased, the family is open to peaceful discussions, including with Mrs. Serwah Fosuh, to ensure a dignified and befitting farewell,” the letter noted.
The statement was signed by Fati Ali-Yallah, Esq., on behalf of Baba Jamal & Associates, solicitors for the Fosu Royal Family.
