In a show of solidarity and statesmanship, former President John Agyekum Kufuor on Thursday paid a visit to President John Dramani Mahama, Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, and First Lady Lordina Mahama at their residence to express his condolences and support following the recent national tragedies.
The visit comes in the wake of the August 6 military helicopter crash that claimed the lives of two cabinet ministers, other senior government officials, and three military officers, plunging the nation into mourning.
Former President Kufuor was warmly received by President Mahama, the Vice President, the First Lady, and other government officials. During the meeting, he conveyed his heartfelt sympathies and offered words of comfort to the nation’s leadership.

“I joined them and other government officials to receive him and thank him for his thoughtful gesture,” said the vice president Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, highlighting the importance of unity in moments of national grief.
The meeting underscored the value of bipartisan compassion during difficult times, as leaders across political divides come together to console the bereaved and affirm national solidarity.
