Former President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, hosted the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and an esteemed delegation of Chiefs and noblemen from Asanteman at his residence in Nima, Accra.
The courtesy visit was marked by deep respect and camaraderie, as the former President warmly welcomed the Asantehene and his entourage. Akufo-Addo expressed profound gratitude to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for his unwavering support and wise counsel throughout his tenure as President of Ghana.
In particular, Akufo-Addo highlighted the Asantehene’s instrumental role as Chairman of the Committee of Eminent Chiefs — a body which also included the Yagbonwura and the Nayiri — for their vital efforts in helping to restore and maintain peace in Dagbon.

“The Otumfuo’s contribution to national unity, especially in the Dagbon peace process, remains a defining legacy of his leadership and commitment to Ghana’s cohesion,” Akufo-Addo remarked.
The meeting also reflected on the enduring personal and professional relationship between the two statesmen. According to Akufo-Addo, their bond of friendship and cooperation dates back to their early years and has grown even stronger over time.
In his closing remarks, the former President extended his best wishes to the Asantehene and the entire Asanteman, praying for continued prosperity and progress in all their endeavours.
The visit underscores the lasting ties between traditional leadership and the state, as well as the enduring influence of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II in national affairs.
