FAAN Addresses Incident Involving K1 De Ultimate at Abuja Airport

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has officially addressed an incident involving renowned Fuji musician, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, and a pilot from ValueJet Airlines at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

The altercation occurred on the morning of Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at the domestic terminal as passengers were boarding ValueJet Airlines Flight VK 201 bound for Lagos.

According to a statement issued by FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mrs. Obiageli Orah, the musician attempted to carry an unidentified liquid substance aboard the aircraft. Despite repeated warnings from Aviation Security (AVSEC) personnel and the flight captain, the passenger allegedly refused to comply with security protocols.

The Federal Government’s aviation regulations—specifically the National Civil Aviation Security Programme (NCASP) and ICAO Annex 17—prohibit liquids exceeding 100ml in hand luggage unless they are medically necessary and properly declared.

During the confrontation, the passenger reportedly spilled the contents of a flask—later confirmed to be alcohol—on an airline security officer. The situation escalated when the flight captain intervened, but also faced resistance from the musician. After boarding was completed, the aircraft door was closed, yet K1 De Ultimate allegedly advanced to the front of the aircraft and refused to leave despite several requests.

He was later escorted from the aircraft area by AVSEC’s crime unit for further investigation and subsequently released.

FAAN emphasized its zero-tolerance policy towards any behavior that threatens the safety, security, and operational integrity of Nigeria’s airports.

“The Authority will not tolerate any actions that compromise operational integrity or undermine aviation safety standards, regardless of the individuals involved,” Mrs. Orah stated, adding that the matter is still under investigation and that any party found culpable will be held accountable according to the law.

FAAN reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining international standards of aviation safety, security, and professionalism at all Nigerian airports.
