Dr. Bryan Acheampong Sets Up Exploratory Committee, Hints at Future Bid for Leadership

In a decisive move that could shape the future of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Bryan Acheampong has announced the formation of an exploratory committee to assess the viability of his potential bid for a key leadership role within the party.

Addressing party supporters and Ghanaians at large in an official statement, Dr. Acheampong described the NPP as being at a “pivotal juncture,” one that demands unity, discipline, and a renewed commitment to its founding values. The former Minister of State and four-term Member of Parliament emphasized that his decision followed deep personal reflection, extensive consultations with family, and overwhelming encouragement from party faithful.

The exploratory committee, which will be active over the next four weeks, has been tasked with engaging stakeholders, listening to grassroots voices, and evaluating the alignment between Dr. Acheampong’s vision and the aspirations of the party and the nation.

“This dedicated committee shares my commitment not only to discipline and unity within the Party,” Dr. Acheampong said, “but also to job creation, food security, youth and infrastructure development, safety and security, and good governance within our nation.”

Dr. Acheampong, a longtime NPP stalwart, brings decades of experience to the table—from grassroots organizing and party staffing to high-level policy development and party financing. His contributions have spanned various parliamentary and ministerial capacities, reinforcing his deep-rooted connection to the party’s legacy and future.

“My journey and service within the NPP has been lifelong and deeply personal,” he noted. “Everything within me and every resource at my disposal have been put to the service of the party, and I will continue to serve.”

In a message aimed at uniting party members and rallying the grassroots, Dr. Acheampong expressed optimism about the party’s future and reaffirmed his loyalty. “I firmly believe in the Party’s capacity to overcome its challenges and once again lead Ghana towards a brighter future,” he stated.

As the NPP navigates a critical phase ahead of its next electoral cycle, Dr. Acheampong’s announcement adds a dynamic layer to internal conversations about leadership renewal and national development priorities.

The political community and observers across the country will be closely watching the outcome of the exploratory committee’s findings, expected within four weeks.
