DCE Donates Sanitary Pads to Afia Kobi Ampem Girls SHS

Mrs. Grace Agyemang Asamoah, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atwima Kwanwoma, has donated sanitary pads to students of Afia Kobi Ampem Girls Senior High School to support the President’s initiative on girls’ education and menstrual hygiene.

The donation, carried out in collaboration with the District Education Directorate and school authorities, aimed to promote menstrual hygiene management and raise awareness about the importance of menstrual health among adolescent girls.

Mrs. Asamoah emphasised that access to sanitary products is a necessity and not a luxury.

“By providing these resources, we seek to ensure that no girl misses out on her education or any opportunity due to menstruation,” she said.
“Let us continue to break the silence and challenge the stigma surrounding menstrual health.”

She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing the challenges girls face in managing their menstrual health, highlighting the role of the District Assembly, through the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development, in promoting the sexual and reproductive health rights of girls.

“This will help improve school retention and empower young girls to reach their full potential and contribute meaningfully to national development,” she added.

Mrs. Asamoah noted that the initiative was part of a broader strategy to create an enabling environment where every girl could manage menstruation in a hygienic, safe, and dignified manner. She also encouraged students to remain focused on their academic and moral growth.

“Avoid social vices and distractions, especially those from social media. Stay focused and strive to become role models. The future of this nation rests on your shoulders as the next generation of leaders,” she advised.

Representing the District Director of Education, Mrs. Cecilia Cudjoe urged the students to study hard and appreciate the government’s efforts toward their welfare.

“Work hard to become responsible citizens and agents of positive change,” she encouraged.

Madam Emelia Ameflu Denutsui, Headmistress of the school, expressed gratitude to the DCE and the government, stating that the donation would significantly ease the financial burden on students and their families.
