The Government of the Czech Republic has extended its heartfelt condolences to Ghana in the wake of the tragic military helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight prominent Ghanaian officials, including two Cabinet Ministers.
In a statement issued by Pavel Bílek, the Czech Republic’s representative, the government expressed sorrow over the incident and offered solidarity to the Ghanaian people during this difficult time.
“I was very saddened by the news of the tragic accident that took the lives of 8 Ghanaian representatives, including Ministers Edward Omane Boamah and Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed,” Bílek said.

International Sympathy Grows
The crash, which occurred earlier today, has sent shockwaves through Ghana and the international community. The deceased included Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, both of whom were on official duty at the time of the crash.
Pavel Bílek, speaking on behalf of Czechia, conveyed sympathy to the bereaved families and the entire Ghanaian nation.
“Please accept heartfelt condolences from Czechia to the families of victims and to people of Ghana,” he added.
Ghana in Mourning
President John Dramani Mahama has declared a national period of mourning, with flags ordered to fly at half-mast across the country. Tributes continue to pour in from global leaders and diplomatic missions, underscoring the widespread grief caused by the sudden loss of key national figures.
The Czech Republic’s message joins a chorus of international support as Ghana grapples with one of its most painful national tragedies in recent history.
