Constitution Review Committee Concludes Nationwide Engagements, Issues Final Call for Public Input

The Constitution Review Committee (CRC) has officially concluded its nationwide zonal engagements aimed at collecting public views and proposals for the review of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution.

The final zonal session took place in Kumasi on Friday, August 1, 2025, marking the end of a robust series of public consultations that spanned all corners of the country.

In a statement released on Monday, August 4, the Committee announced that all public engagements will formally end on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, after scheduled consultative meetings with the Council of State and the Trades Union Congress (TUC).

Final Opportunity for Submissions

As the review process enters its final public consultation phase, the CRC is urging all Ghanaians who have not yet submitted their input to do so by the deadline. Citizens are encouraged to send their written memoranda electronically via the official Committee email: submissions@constitutionreviewgh.org.

The CRC emphasized that this is a critical opportunity for every Ghanaian to participate in shaping the constitutional future of the country.

Gratitude for Nationwide Support

The Committee expressed its deep appreciation to the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) for its instrumental role in organizing the nationwide zonal engagements. It also acknowledged the immense support and involvement of traditional leaders, including Chiefs and Tindaana, as well as Regional Ministers, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), and the general public.

“Their contributions were vital to the success of the consultations held across the country,” the statement noted.

A People-Centered Review Process

The CRC reaffirmed its dedication to a transparent, inclusive, and participatory constitutional review process. The Committee reiterated that its ultimate goal is to ensure that any amendments to the 1992 Constitution reflect the aspirations and collective will of the Ghanaian people.

As the nation nears the close of this important phase in its constitutional evolution, the CRC is calling on all citizens to seize this final opportunity to make their voices heard.
