The Church of Pentecost has joined the nation in mourning the eight Ghanaians who lost their lives in the tragic military helicopter crash on August 6, 2025.

In a statement issued on behalf of the Chairman, the Executive Council, and the entire membership of the Church, heartfelt condolences were extended to the bereaved families, the Government of Ghana, and the people of the nation during this period of national grief.

The crash claimed the lives of prominent government officials and military personnel, including Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Environment, Science and Technology Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, former Northern Regional Minister Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna, NDC National Vice Chairman Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Mr. Samuel Aboagye, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Twum-Ampadu, and Sgt. Ernest Addo Mensah.

The Church described the incident as an immense loss not only to the affected families but to the entire country, noting that the victims had served Ghana with diligence, honour, and dedication to national development.

“As a Church, we stand in prayer with the bereaved families and ask the Lord to comfort them with His peace that surpasses all understanding,” the statement said, referencing Philippians 4:7.

The Church of Pentecost also prayed for divine strength for President John Dramani Mahama, members of government, and the leadership of the security services in navigating this difficult period.

The statement concluded with a call for national unity, compassion, and hope, reminding Ghanaians of life’s fragility and urging collective prayer for healing and peace.

“May the Lord heal our land and grant eternal rest to the souls of the departed,” it added.
