Children of the Late Daddy Lumba Distance Themselves from Ongoing Court Process Over Funeral Arrangements

The children of the late Ghanaian music icon, Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, have issued a statement clarifying their position regarding the ongoing legal proceedings surrounding their father’s funeral and burial arrangements.

In a statement signed by Ms. Charlyn Fosuh, daughter of the late musician and Akosua Serwaa, the family emphasized that they are not parties to the ongoing court case and have no intention of being involved in any dispute relating to the funeral plans.

“We, the children of Akosua Serwaa and Daddy Lumba, wish to clarify that we are not parties to this legal process and that we do not wish to be involved in any disputes or conflicts surrounding the funeral arrangements,” the statement read.

The family expressed their desire to honour their father’s memory in a dignified and peaceful manner, reflecting his remarkable life and contributions to Ghanaian music and culture.

“Our only desire is to honour our father’s memory in a dignified, respectful, and peaceful manner, befitting his remarkable life and contributions. We stand together as his children from all sides of the family, united in our love and respect for our father,” the statement continued.

The children further appealed to the general public, the media, and social media commentators to exercise restraint and decorum in their commentary about the family and any related legal issues, stressing that the focus should remain on celebrating Daddy Lumba’s enduring legacy.

“At this difficult time, we wish to focus solely on celebrating his legacy and ensuring a fitting farewell. We kindly ask the public and the media to be measured and respectful in their discussions concerning the family, ongoing legal matters, and the funeral arrangements,” they appealed.

The statement concluded by reaffirming the family’s commitment to ensuring that the final farewell of the legendary musician reflects the peace, unity, and dignity he valued throughout his life.

Daddy Lumba, affectionately known as DL, was one of Ghana’s most celebrated highlife musicians, with a career spanning several decades and numerous hit songs that have shaped the nation’s music industry. His passing has sparked widespread grief and reflection on his musical legacy.
