CBG extends “Formative Learning with CBG” initiative to Adaklu Vodze Basic School

Consolidated Bank Ghana (CBG) has extended its flagship educational support programme, “Formative Learning with CBG,” to the Adaklu Vodze Basic School in the Adaklu District of the Volta Region, with a donation of over 700 reading books.

The gesture, carried out on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, reflects the bank’s firm commitment to promoting literacy and quality education across underserved communities in Ghana.

Leading the presentation was the Managing Director of CBG, Dr. Naomi Wolali Kwetey who emphasised the transformational power of reading in shaping future generations.

“Literacy is the foundation on which dreams are built. Through efforts like this, we are sowing seeds of opportunity and celebrating the power of reading to transform lives,” she said.

Dr. Kwetey noted that the donated books are Ghanaian-authored and published, highlighting the rich cultural heritage, diverse traditions, and inspiring stories that shape the national identity.

“By offering our children these resources, we not only support their literacy development but also instill a sense of pride in their roots and shared history,” she added.

She encouraged the pupils to embrace the books fully, explore their content with enthusiasm, and allow their imaginations to flourish.

“To our dedicated teachers and school leaders — we salute your tireless commitment. At CBG, we are proud to partner with you in shaping the minds that will define tomorrow,” Dr. Kwetey said, reaffirming the bank’s broader vision to support communities through knowledge and development.

Mr. Edward Dzidza, Headteacher of the school, expressed profound gratitude to CBG for the donation.

He acknowledged the acute lack of reading materials prior to the intervention, which had hindered the pupils’ ability to build strong literacy skills.

“These books have come at the right time. Before today, we had very few reading materials, but now, we are empowered. As the saying goes, ‘We learn to read and read to learn.’ With this support, our children can now read, comprehend, and apply knowledge to transform their lives,” he said.

He also appealed to CBG and other benevolent institutions, organizations, and individuals to support the school in infrastructure development, which he described as a pressing need.

Madam Sheila Azuntaba, the Deputy Managing Director of CBG, who was also with the team, reaffirmed the bank’s unwavering commitment to education and child development.

She engaged the pupils in a lively reading session and recitals, which thrilled the children and demonstrated the immediate impact of the donated books.

The pupils, teachers, and School Management Committee Chairman welcomed the initiative warmly, describing it as a “lifeline” to transform education in the area.

The “Formative Learning with CBG” initiative continues to promote literacy across Ghana, reaffirming CBG’s mission to stand with communities and invest in their future through impactful educational partnerships.
