Germany summons Russian ambassador over drones in Polish airspace

The German government on Friday summoned the Russian ambassador to express its dismay over the incursion of drones into Polish airspace, an act Berlin is treating as a deliberate provocation by Moscow. The Foreign Office wrote on X that the actions of Russian President Vladimir Putin were "dangerous" and "unacceptable." "NATO stands united to defend our alliance territory and our security," the ministry wrote. France and the Netherlands have also summoned Russian envoys following the violation of Poland's airspace by 19 Russian drones, which occurred late Tuesday and early Wednesday during attacks on neighbouring Ukraine. The threat led to a scramble by the Polish Air Force and NATO allies to shoot down the unmanned aircraft. It was the first time Russian drones had been taken ...

Putin rejects Western security in Ukraine, warning troops would be target

Russian President Vladimir Putin has rejected Western proposals for a "reassurance force" in Ukraine the day after any ceasefire comes into place, following a Paris summit aimed at finalising plans for security guarantees. French President Emmanuel Macron said 26 of Ukraine's allies had formally committed to deploying troops "by land, sea or air" to help provide security the moment fighting was brought to a halt.  He did not detail any of the countries involved. Putin sought to quash the allies' initiative, with a warning that any troops deployed to Ukraine would be "legitimate targets", especially if they appeared now, even though there are no plans for an immediate deployment. There seems little hope of a ceasefire for now, after last month's summit in Alaska between Put...
