British High Commission Extends Condolences to Ghana Over Tragic Helicopter Crash

The British High Commission in Ghana has extended its deep condolences to President John Dramani Mahama, the Government, and the people of Ghana following the tragic military helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight Ghanaians, including two Cabinet Ministers.

In a solemn message shared on Wednesday, the Commission described the day as a “tragic and sad” one for the nation, offering heartfelt sympathies to all those affected.

“The British High Commission expresses deep condolences to His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama @GhanaPresidency and the people of Ghana on this tragic and sad day.”

The message further acknowledged the grief of the bereaved families and the wider national sorrow engulfing the country.

“Our thoughts are with the families and friends of those deceased during this difficult time,” the Commission added.

A Nation in Mourning

The crash, which has shocked the nation and the international community, led to the deaths of key national figures including Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, along with six other military and public service officials.

As Ghana continues to mourn, world leaders, foreign missions, and international organizations have begun sending tributes and condolences. The British High Commission’s statement is part of the growing global expressions of sympathy and solidarity with Ghana.

President Mahama has declared a period of national mourning, with flags flying at half-mast as the nation grieves the irreplaceable loss of its dedicated patriots.
