Authorities have temporarily shut down Bawku Senior High School following the tragic death of a student, Hakimu Kundima, who was allegedly dragged from his dormitory and killed by unknown assailants.
The Municipal Education Directorate made the decision to close the school in order to ensure the safety and well-being of all students.
Announcing the development, the Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Isaac Agbeko Azasoo, said, “We have decided to give the school a temporary break so that students can return home to their families. The school will remain closed for the time being, and management will communicate further details in due course.”

Mr. Azasoo expressed particular concern for the final-year students, who are just a week away from starting their final exams. “Once calm is fully restored, the final-year students will be called back to prepare for their exams before the rest of the students return. We believe this is the most appropriate step to take,” he stated.
He also assured parents that all other students are safe and being taken care of. “We want to assure your parents that you are all safe. When you are with them at home, it will ease their worries,” he added.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing as authorities work to restore peace and security on the school campus.
