Asante Kotoko Issues Strong Statement Condemning Unwarranted Attacks on Players and Technical Team

Ghanaian football giants Asante Kotoko SC have issued a strong-worded statement condemning what the club describes as a calculated smear campaign against its players and technical team. In an official release signed by the club’s Communications Director, Samuel Sarfo Duku, the club expressed grave concern over persistent negative media commentary following recent match results.

The statement highlights that while internal disappointment over performances is acknowledged, what is particularly troubling is the orchestrated effort by certain media voices — claiming affiliation with the club — to destabilize the team’s morale and unity. According to the club, these so-called analytical commentaries are veiled attacks meant to sow division and disrupt the team’s cohesion at a crucial point in the season.

“These calculated attacks… are nothing short of an agendum to sow disunity and sabotage the hard work being done at all levels of the club,” the statement read. It further stressed that such actions threaten the club’s chances of securing a league and cup double — a goal set at the season’s outset.

Asante Kotoko warned that it would not tolerate any attempts, subtle or otherwise, to destabilize the club and will take action against media houses or individuals whose reportage crosses the line of professional ethics into defamation and mischief.

The club also expressed disappointment with some known supporters who, rather than rallying unity, have instead fueled divisive narratives. The statement made it clear that decisive action will be taken against any individual undermining the club’s collective interests.

Despite the external distractions, Kotoko reminded stakeholders of the team’s resilience, emphasizing that the club remains unbeaten since their controversial loss in Nsoatre. Management reaffirmed the team’s unity and determination to reach their season targets.

The club concluded by encouraging constructive criticism aimed at improving its fortunes while urging supporters to remain calm and steadfast. “This is the time to stay the course. United, we are stronger,” the statement ended.

This release reflects Asante Kotoko’s intent to protect its integrity and maintain focus as the season intensifies.
