Musician jailed two years for lottery fraud

The Ho Circuit court on Wednesday, September 23, sentenced a musician, Reuben Ansah, to two years imprisonment with hard labour for lottery fraud. Ansah, 20, a resident of Akatsi, is one of three persons standing trial for various acts of impersonation and defrauding by false pretenses in relation to operations of the National Lottery Authority (NLA). The court, presided over by His Honour Felix Datsomor, also fined the musician 200 penalty units for the offence of Impersonation or in default serve 12 months in prison with hard labour. The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has cut the sod for the construction of a Trauma Hospital at Anyinam in the Atiwa East constituency, and a 40-bed District Hospital at Kwabeng in the Atiwa West constituency. At Anyinam, his first port of call, on Thursday, 1st October 2020, President Akufo-Addo was told that the Trauma Hospital has been on the drawing board for well-over a decade. The construction of the Atiwa East Trauma Hospital is being made possible by a fifty-five-million-euro facility from Deutsche Bank, with the facility also to be used for the construction of three other projects, namely a new Hospital at Obuasi East, the rehabilitation of the existing Obuasi Government Hospital; and the remodeling of the Enyiresi Hospital.
