GPHA Workers appeal to President Akufo-Addo to Call MPS to order

Aggrieved workers of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) haveappealed to President Akufo-Addo to call the Meridian Ports Services (MPS) to order to increase the revenue base of government. “MPS, we think has burnt all its bridges now and come to the place, where itneeds a strong rebuke from the President himself. President Akufo-Addo must call this company to order,” says Emmanuel Neequaye, Chairman of the GPHA workers Union. Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has wished Dr Lydia Dsane-Selby, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), who is recuperating from Covid-19 a speedy recovery.  Dr Dsane-Selby announced her COVID-19 status in a media interview on Monday, June 15, saying that she was experiencing tiredness, bodily pains and headaches. Nigeria government threatens doctors over strike

The Nigerian government has threatened to invoke the 'no work no pay rule' on resident doctors that embarked on an indefinite strike on Monday. Health minister Osagie Ehanire directed all medical directors in all public hospitals across the country to open a register by 7 a.m. from Wednesday and record 'those who come to work and those who fail to come to work'. The minister issued the directive on Tuesday shortly after a meeting between officials of the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) ended in a deadlock. Covid-19: Chinese embassy, Chinese community in Ghana donates to the Ridge Hospital

The Chinese embassy in Ghana together with the Chinese community hasdonated items to the Greater Accra regional hospital to complementgovernment effort at dealing with the Coronavirus pandemic. Ghana’s case count stands at 12, 193 with 58 deaths and over four thousandrecoveries. The donation led by the Chinese ambassador to Ghana, Shi TingWang included 15 respirators, 20,000 medical masks, 1600 N95 masks, 120protective suits, 60 face shields, and 100 medical goggles.
