Dr. Bawumia Commissions Digital Repository For Wesley Girls Senior High School In Memory Of His Mother

The Vice President and Flagbearer of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has commissioned a digital depository for the Wesley Girls Senior High School, which he helped established for the school in memory of his late mother, Hajia Mariama Bawumia, who was an Old Student of the school in 1960. The digital repository, equipped with modern technological gadgets, is a  system which has digitised records of the school, including records of old and current students and staff. With a unique access codes, past students, current students and staff will be able to access confidential information about themselves, or general information about the school. Wesley Girls’ brouhaha: Let’s not settle ‘ideological battles’ in schools – Akufo-Addo

The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has, for the first time, spoken on the religious fracas between authorities of the Wesley Girls’ High School and some Muslim leaders in the country. President Akufo-Addo says educational institutions should not be a place to settle religious scores. Let’s exercise maximum restraint over Wesley Girls’ saga — Chief Imam

The National Chief Imam, Sheikh Usman Nuhu Sharubutu, has called for maximum restraint over the Wesley Girls' SHS decision to prevent Muslims from Ramadan fasting in the school. There has been a media warfare following the decision, with members of the Christian Community seemingly defending the school. But the Chief Imam in a statement issued by his Spokesperson, Sheikh Armiyawo Shaibu, noted with anxiety “the rising tension which constitutes a security threat to the existing state of harmony in the country.” According to the statement, “in the light of the above, the National Chief Imam wishes to call on all stakeholders to exercise maximum restraint and allow opportunity for leadership to bring closure to the matter in peace and harmony.” Source: DGN online

Methodist Church to GES: We won’t allow Muslims to fast at Wesley Girls SHS

The Methodist Church says its schools including Wesley Girls SHS cannot accede to the unilateral directive issued by the Ghana Education Service The Methodist Church of Ghana has said it is unable to honour a directive by the Ghana Education Service (GES) to allow Muslim students at the Wesley Girls’ Senior High School to observe the Ramadan fast.
