Twenty-five alleged secessionists granted bail

The 25 alleged secessionists, standing trial at an Accra Circuit Court, have been admitted to bail.    The accused were granted bail in the sum of GHS 100,000 each with two sureties.    The Court, presided over by Mr Emmanuel Essandoh, ordered that the sureties be public servants earning not less than GHS4,000.    The accused were also ordered by the Court to be reporting to the Police.    Meanwhile, four of the accused persons have been discharged after prosecution, led by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sylvester Asare, had amended the charge sheet.    ASP Asare informed the Court that the case was still under investigations and prayed it to remand the 25 accused persons lawfully into Police custody.    Prosecution argued that the Circuit Court did not h...

Oti Regional Minister Nana Owusu Yeboah warns Secessionists Group

Nana Owusu-Yeboah, the Oti Regional Minister, has warned secessionists groups not to extend their activities into the Oti Region. He said the security agencies, with support from the Chiefs and the youth, were ready to quell any disturbances. Attacks by secessionist group likely to increase-IPEG

The Institute for Peace and Governance (IPEG) has diagnosed the activities of the Western Togoland Study Group (WTL) and said it was likely attacks on state installations could increase. "There is most likely to be an increase in the number of such attacks."It said "The attacks will most probably be centered on state infrastructure/installations as well as property, with minimal deaths and injuries." Alavanyo Traditional Area condemns citizens attack by secessionist group

Togbega Tsedze Atakora VII, Paramount Chief, and overlord of Alavanyo Traditional Council, has condemned an alleged attack on an indigene by a secessionist group in the Volta Region.      "I want to express our disappointment in the unwarranted attack on our son, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Denise Fiakpoe, an Alavanyo citizen and Divisional Commander of the Ghana Police Service.    "He sustained various degrees of wounds in the Western Togoland attack.
