Three human rights Bills passage: Sosu grateful to Speaker for support

Mr Francis-Xavier Kojo Sosu, the NDC Member of Parliament (MP) for Madina, has expressed gratitude to the Speaker of Parliament Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin for his support in getting the three major human rights Bills passed by the House. The three Private Member's Bills, which were sponsored by Mr Sosu include: the Criminal Offences (Amendment), Bill, 2022, which seeks to abolish the Death Penalty; the Criminal Offences (Amendment) Bill, 2022, which seeks to proscribe witchcraft accusation; and the Armed Forces (Amendment) Bill, 2022, which seeks to replace the Death Penalty with life imprisonment. Court rescinds bench warrant for Sosu’s arrest

The bench warrant issued for the arrest of Madina Lawmaker Francis -Xavier Sosu has been withdrawn by the Kaneshie District Court. This was after Sosu made an appearance in court today Wednesday December 1. The Court issued the bench warrant on Monday November 29. This followed Sosu’s inability to show up in court on Monday, November 29, when the case against him was called. His lawyer Victor Kwadjoga Adawudu told the court that Sosu is attending to Parliamentary duty as the Constitutional and Legal Committee of Parliament resumes public sitting on the anti-Gay bill.
