NDC MPs boycott Akufo-Addo’s inauguration

Members of the NDC in Parliament have boycotted the investiture of President Akufo-Addo for his second term in office. It is unclear the exact basis for the boycott but the party’s Presidential candidate John Mahama is challenging the victory of Mr Akufo-Addo in court claiming electoral fraud. Mr. Akufo-Addo’s investiture comes hours after long-winding violence laced election of the Speaker of the 8th Parliament which was on by the NDC’s nominee Alban Bagbin. Trump announces delegation to attend Akufo-Addo’s inauguration

United States (US) President Donald Trump has announced a Presidential Delegation to attend the swearing-in of Ghana's President-elect Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Thursday, January 7, 2021, in Accra, Ghana. A statement on the White House website said the US Special Envoy for the Sahel Region of Africa, Dr J. Peter Pham will lead the delegation. He will be joined by the US Ambassador to Ghana, Stephanie S. Sullivan at the ceremony which starts at 11 am at Parliament in Accra.
