An Accra High Court has convicted Dr Daniel McKorley, the Chief Executive Officer of McDan Group of Companies for contempt. Contempt case against Rex Omar, 14 others adjourned to May 17

The Accra Human Rights Court yesterday adjourned to May 17, 2021, the case in which a lawyer is seeking the court to jail musician, Rex Omar, and 14  others for contempt of court. Mr Gabriel Awunyo, who is representing George William Dickson, veteran musician, Akosua Adjepong, and two others, was in court on Wednesday to move the contempt motion against the respondents, but was told the presiding judge, Justice Gifty Addo was indisposed. Contempt of Court: Dominic Ayine ordered to retract and apologise

The Supreme Court has ordered Dr Dominic Akuritinga Ayine to purge himself of contempt by rendering an unqualified apology and a retraction following his public comment deemed prejudicial on the pending 2020 presidential election petition. He is to retract the "scandalous statement on the very same medium before Thursday", February 25, 2021 when the court will reconvene. The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has asked the Supreme Court to stop contempt proceedings against him by the Accra High Court. Auditor General found guilty of contempt

The Auditor-General, Daniel Domelevo, has been found guilty of contempt for failing to respond to a suit filed by the Senior Minister, Yaw Osafo Maafo, which was challenging the $1m surcharge on him. According to the court, the reason given by Mr. Domelevo for his inability to respond was “untenable and an afterthought.” Domelevo had said he was busy finishing up an audit report for Parliament hence his failure to respond to the suit. The judge, Justice Botwe, in her ruling, said due to the important role the Auditor-General plays, she will opt to caution and discharge him rather than sentence him. Auditor General found guilty of contempt of Court

An Accra High Court, presided over by Justice Afia Asare Botwe, has found the Auditor General, Daniel Domelovo, guilty of contempt.  The Senior Minister, Yaw Osafo Maafo made an application to the Court to punish Mr. Domelovo for failing to respond to his case challenging a US$1 million surcharge on him within 14 days.  The Court granted that request but did not impose custodial sentence. The Court held that the reason given by the Auditor General, Mr. Domelovo that he was busy finishing up an audit report for Parliament hence his failure to respond to the appeal seeking to set aside the surcharge is untenable and an afterthought.
